One of the main developments for us at Lingo24 over the last couple of years has been our consultancy offering, which we call LocStrat, or Localisation Strategy Assessment.
It sounds very technical and challenging – and it is – but it has real human and business benefits.

Here’s the first part of a series of blog posts and videos on LocStrat – an overview of what that service is, when it might be appropriate for different companies to consider it, and the key benefits of it, as global becomes more and more important to your business’ success:

  • control of what’s going on, including control over costs and scalability.

So what is Localisation Strategy?

It is a service whereby our experts engage with all your stakeholders in localisation, be that people writing content, marketers in the business, people in HR and training, and importantly in-market reviewers – the people who are representing your company all over the world – , to make sure that we can understand

  • how content flows through your organisation,
  • what the blockers are,
  • what the priorities and challenges are,
  • what tools people are using,
  • what processes people are following.

We then reflect that back to the organisation as a whole and try to get everybody on the same page as to how things might be improved as we move forward.

This typically works well with businesses

  • when they’ve got to a crunch point, they’ve decided they need to consolidate many websites into one global brand and that’s going to require control over the processes of translation and adjacent to translation,
  • where someone’s been outflanked by a competitor who can get content to market quicker than you can,
  • or it might be that you are just getting a lot of noise and dissatisfaction within a team who are overburdened, and perhaps not working with the latest tools and technologies in the most efficient way.

That’s when we come in and we find that it works really well for us to go from being a transactional provider of translation to a genuine strategic partner.

The benefits of the process we go through are that we do genuinely shine a light on the opinions of the different stakeholders across the business, and help them to make sure their voices are heard and their needs are taken into consideration.
We then give you much more control, sometimes by bringing in our tools, so that you can have visibility of where processes are working, where they may not be, and the opportunity to control costs.

Once you’ve got all these processes understood and under control, you’ll be in a position to scale properly, and we know that translation and localisation are drivers and supporters of global revenue, so this is important for businesses to address.
