The challenge
Photobox is an online photo printing and gifting company and the European market leader in photo products, serving customers across Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
With their current solution no longer fit for purpose, the key challenge was ensuring high translation quality, while making the process blend seamlessly within their new content platform.
The process had to be streamlined in a way that was easy for the central content team to provide governance and oversight rather than manage day-to-day needs.
Following a competitive RFP process, Photobox selected Lingo24 and set the challenge to not only translate but educate and empower their various devolved brand and functional teams.
“One of the main reasons we went with Lingo24 was because we felt they would be able to help with setting up the right process, involve our native language speakers and engage with our tech. And they have.”

Onboarding
After a few discovery calls we understood what matters to each Photobox team and how they work, and then we took care of the rest.
Language Assets – We processed and used existing Style Guides, Translation Memories and Terminologies, supporting the filtering of what to keep and use and what to discard.
Content Sourcing and Selection – For each team we dived into their specific needs, enabling us to configure optimal workflows and automate processes.

Custom Processing and File Filtering – We worked with the technical team at Photobox across key formats to establish a base of existing filters with the rest to be created as they are needed.
Team Management within the Lingo24 ordering platform – Our clients can manage their teams in our intuitive online ordering platform when they need to, sharing ordering templates and agreeing rights and responsibilities for each new team member.
Our product managers and tech developers are all so impressed that the Lingo24 team can not only talk to our copywriters about translations and to me about process, but also to our tech teams about APIs and pulling content from our website.
They’ve taken everything we’ve thrown at them, delivering it all and making my job easy.

Benefits and outcomes
A stable process that delivers
Photobox has been able to devolve ordering 100% of their translation orders through the Lingo24 ordering platform or API. This means:
- shorter deadlines
- reduced risks & costs
- greater automation
Overview and Governance
The Lingo24 ordering platform gives real-time visibility of projects, quotes, invoices and costs, making budget management easy. In addition because the platform is intuitive new users can get started in just minutes without the need for training or further support.

Centralising without standardisation
Having filters linked to the various content types and automated workflows for handling new content enables the various teams to work using centralised assets in line with their internal approach.
Working collaboratively
Photobox teams work together in our tools by sharing templates, adding or reviewing quotes and terminology. This approach avoids the need for someone at either end having to manually group things together thus saving time and money while improving the experience for Photobox.
