Intermediate File Engineering Specialist

Location: Timisoara, Romania

About the role

Lingo24 undertakes and delivers translations across a vast array of business documents. All these different document types require specific filtering to extract the text which needs to be translated. The File Engineering department develops a set of tools to automate the extraction of these texts. In addition, we develop custom steps for clients to validate, enrich and transform their data.

The Intermediate File Engineering Specialist will be responsible for providing support within the File Engineering Department, by enabling the successful and sustainable delivery of Lingo24 File Engineering services.

In this role, you will respect, apply and enforce the FE Services throughout all FE projects/tasks and act as a technical consultant for PMs/AMs. This role may also require to provide ad-hoc support to the wider Technical Consultants & Global Support teams in providing additional capacity and experience.

What you will be doing:

  • Offer consultancy for PMs/AMs on various technical matters related to their projects (optimal workflows, automation of processes).
  • Document workflows & processes and ensure knowledge is transferred globally.
  • Perform FE tasks to convert documents from/into different formats.
  • Provide support for any type of complex requests (XML, XLIFF, properties, strings, PO file types).
  • Track changes and update progress of projects/tasks via the Jira service desk.
  • Ensuring that tickets are responded to and actioned within the SLAs defined for tickets raised via the Jira service desk.
  • Support the Junior File Engineering Specialists in view of accurately following the workflows of the FE Services.
  • Use critical thinking to identify workflows, that can be improved and assist Senior File Engineering Specialists to automate filtering when possible.
  • Work on File Engineering Initiatives – code & documentation for automations.

We would expect you to be:

  • Experienced in Project Management (preferably minimum 3 years experience), in coordinating project teams and also in dealing with various stakeholders;
  • A proficient English user – both written and spoken (C1 level or above);
  • A thorough and structured individual who can use project management tools: Gantt, Microsoft Project or similar;
  • Skilled computer user (MS Office, Email, MS Project);
  • A confident decision maker, in both the clients’ and the company’s best interest;
  • Great communication skills – able to lead client conversations in a constructive manner, take on feedback and turn it into actionable goals for your team and colleagues;
  • Committed to continuously learn, experiment and develop yourself.

  • Provide consultancy to our customers on the service suite and help them find the best solution for their translation and localization needs;
  • Plan, organise and coordinate internal and external resources to ensure successful delivery of our projects;
  • Identify, structure and communicate risks to support customers with their more technical requirements;
  • Clearly define and communicate objectives, roles and responsibilities to all resources involved;
  • Work with our developers and provide internal feedback and insight on our workflows and technology tools in order to improve on the quality, efficiency and usability of these tools.
  • Ability to learn quickly and pass this acquired knowledge on to others ;
  • Knowledge of common translation interchange formats and document types, together with their associated challenges. Including but not limited to: XML, XLIFF, Office Formats ( Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel), programming Formats (JSON, YAML, PO, properties);
  • Knowledge of translation technology components and experience with one or more products in each area of: Translation Management Systems, Computer Assisted Translation Tools, Translation Memory, Machine Translation;
  • Experience with file format editors such as: Advanced Text Editors and/or IDEs, Microsoft Office;
  • Ability to working with a service desk
