Job Description for Lingo24 Supplier Co-ordinator

Background

Lingo24 is one of the fastest-growing, most innovative translation companies in Europe. With small operations in the UK, New Zealand, China, France and Germany, the company’s main hub is in Romania, where it employs over 50 people in project management, account management, IT and marketing roles. Lingo24 undertakes translation projects for a wide range of clients in several different industry sectors.

It is now seeking an experienced Supplier Co-ordinator to join its growing Recruitment team to ensure Lingo24’s translators are the very best.

Outline of Supplier Co-ordinator’s role

Our supplier co-ordinator will work to reduce translation costs by lowering the rates of suppliers used by the project managers.

Specific Tasks

1. recruiting more linguists (finding, testing and negotiating with new translators)
2. ensuring that we extract maximum value from our existing resources
3. identifying language combinations where there are opportunities to use less expensive suppliers, and recruiting such suppliers
4. ensuring that all suppliers have an up to date and accurate grading (for measures including quality and performance)
5. ensuring that all suppliers have an up to date and accurate rate(s)

Requirements

• A university degree, preferably in languages, and ideally involving English.
• Excellent spoken and written English (German or any other language, in addition, would be a distinct advantage) and experience using English in a business context (dealing with customers/suppliers) would be another plus.
• Excellent computer literacy (MS Office, Internet, Email, typing). Experience of translation technology (e.g. Trados etc.) would be a small advantage.
• Excellent organisational skills, and negotiation skills. You will be friendly, level-headed, self-motivated, independent, trustworthy, ambitious, committed and a very strong team player
• A passion for languages and accuracy in translation. Experience as a translator or in the translation industry would be an advantage.

Salary and conditions

Salary: Will depend on experience, but will be competitive and rewarding.

Hours: There will be some flexibility on hours, but the main working hours will correspond to UK working hours (9-17 GMT). There will be frequent project deadlines and regular team meetings (on the web and in person)

There will be a period of three months during which you will receive full training.
