Ten Questions for Christian Arno, Director of Lingo24

CHRISTIAN Arno 30, is founder of translation company Lingo24. He lives in the New Town.

1 What is your earliest memory of Edinburgh?
I remember coming down from Aberdeen to visit Edinburgh Zoo with my Norwegian grandmother. I couldn't have been more than seven years old and it was very exciting to go to the big city. I've not managed to stay away long since.

2 What are your memories of school?
I went to Cults Primary in Aberdeen and Robert Gordon's College. I remember loving languages, hating science, making some of the best friends I'll ever have, and doing heaps of sport. Great times.

3 Where is your favourite place in Edinburgh and why?
The Pleasance - I've got so many memories of laughing my head off there during the Festival.

4 What are the best things about Edinburgh?
The people are the best thing about Edinburgh - I find Edinburgh folk warm, clever and down to earth. I love the fact you can get around so easily without an engine, and the number of inspirational buildings is phenomenal. There's also a wide variety of good food.

5 What would you change about the city?
I'd like to see more pedestrian-only areas.

6 Describe a perfect Edinburgh day/night out.
I'd get up late and spend a good few hours reading the papers in Artisan Roast on Broughton Street. My beloved Dons would be playing Hibs at Easter Road, so I'd probably meet a couple of friends in the Conan Doyle for a pre-match pint and then head on over. After that, I'd meet my girlfriend for a cracking dinner at Iglu on Jamaica Street before heading out to see some comedy at the Pleasance - if it was Festival time.

7 Which sports interest you?
Football and tennis are my biggies, but I love pretty much any sport, particularly those that involve chasing a ball around a pitch.

8 What was your most embarrassing moment?
The result of trying to cut my own hair when I was at primary school - I got a pretty unpleasant ribbing at school the next day.

9 What is your greatest achievement?
Building Lingo24 into Scotland's largest translation company.

10 Sum up Edinburgh in three words.
Classy, accessible, genuine.
