Fully committed to supporting people seeking to pursue a successful career in the language industry, Lingo24 offers a collection of tools for future language professionals. Among the helpful resources hosted by the company’s website are blogs and articles, as well as a Career Guide for translators.
Lingo24’s desire to offer advice and help for future professionals in the language industry took a new turn last month when Lingo24 founder and Managing Director, Christian Arno, visited Westhill Academy in Aberdeen, the secondary school he attended several years ago, and shared some of the secrets to a successful career using languages.
Aberdonian pupils considering a career in languages had the opportunity to receive some hands-on advice from the man behind one the industry’s most spectacular success stories! From a small office set up in his parents’ home in Aberdeen in 2001 to leading a top online translation agency with operations in eight countries around the world, Christian Arno has played a central role in the development of the fastest-growing translation company online. His tips for a thriving career in the field of languages were “A way for students to see what can be done with determination and the foresight to tap into an area which businesses of all kinds need”, says one of the teachers at Westhill, Moira Paterson. “It shows that the idea that everyone speaks English and that we don't have to bother to learn other languages is false”, she adds.
Giving career advice to the pupils studying at the same school he attended several years ago was a rewarding opportunity for Arno as well. “I really enjoyed meeting the pupils and finding out how they want to use their language skills. It's encouraging to see that so many of them want to go out and learn new languages, and I'm sure many will do exciting things”, he says.
