How do law firms manage their translations? Lingo24 starts survey.

Following reports that law firm managers often ask their trainees to do legal document translation, Lingo24 investigates whether this practice successfully produces the expected results. Conclusions of the investigation will be made public, thus helping law firms make the right decision about how they manage their translation requirements.

Lingo24 experts believe that having legal translations done by someone who does not have a consistent knowledge of legal terminology in both languages often leads to unfortunate results. “Having proficient skills in a foreign language is wonderful, but it is not equal to speaking the legalese jargon in that language”, says Sue Copas, Key-Account Manager at Lingo24.

With its extensive experience in the translation industry, Lingo24 believes that failing to use specialised legal translation services may sound like a cheap and fast solution, but in fact the decision is neither cost nor time-effective. In addition, it may damage relations between law firms and their employees or result in low quality translation, thus being detrimental to the firm’s activity.

To see whether employees in law firms confirm or infirm the views above, Lingo24 has started an online survey.

The first 30 people to respond will be awarded a limited edition Lingo24 T-shirt, and the top three respondents will get a magnum of champagne! And if the total number of respondents reaches 1,000, Lingo24 will make a donation to the charity that gets most votes from the survey participants.
