Tamil Translation Services
The Tamil language is a member of the Dravidian family of languages and is predominantly spoken by the Tamils of Southern India, Sri Lanka and Singapore; there are approximately 68 million native speakers of Tamil worldwide, with a further 9 million speakers for whom it is a second language.
The history of the Tamil language can be traced back approximately 2000 years, although as with Sanskrit, there was probably an extensive history before the advent of the written script.
Tamil is closely related to the Malayalam language; the language spoken in the Indian State of Kerala and researchers have found that before the 9th century AD, the two languages were in fact the same with only slight dialectical differences. Tamil can, therefore, be viewed as the root source of Malayalam.
Here at Lingo24 we have a wide experience of translating all of the Indic languages and have produced top quality Tamil translations for both the public and private sectors.
Our success lies with our stringent methodology; we allocate each client a Project Manager who will then scope out the client’s requirements and allocate the most appropriate Tamil linguist for the job: our Tamil linguists are all native speakers who use their language daily in their professional lives.
Your Project Manager will be in contact with you throughout the project to keep you up to date, and to re-assure you that your all-important deadline will be kept (or indeed beaten!). Upon completion our translation is quality checked by a second Tami linguist and only then is it cleared for return to the client.
Because Tamil is written in its own script called the vattelutlu, or ‘rounded writing’, we are also able to advise on DTP (desktop publishing) of Tamil translations. Many of our clients are unfamiliar with the best methods for handling non-roman scripts, so just let us know if you need help regarding that or anything else to do with your Tamil translation requirements.
