Sanskrit Translation Services
Of all the Indo-European languages of the Indian sub continent Sanskrit is the forerunner of them all and has a very special place in the hearts and minds of all Asians. Sanskrit is held in the same esteem as classical Latin and Greek are in the Western world, however, because it is also the de facto language of Hinduism and Jainism; and the forerunner of the subsequent languages of Buddhism and Sikhism it is revered in these circles as the holy medium of the scriptures.
The first written appearance of Sanskrit is in its Vedic form, around 1500 BC within the corpus of the Rig Veda; it is widely claimed though, that its existence in purely oral form pre-dates written Vedic Sanskrit by several thousand years. Whatever the validity of this, Sanskrit is certainly the earliest example of an Indo- European language and one that has influenced all of the subsequent languages within this family to some extent.
Sanskrit has long ceased to be a living language but the corpus of Sanskrit literature encompasses ancient works of Drama, Poetry, Religion, Science, Medicine and Philosophy and a great deal more. Sanskrit is nowadays in the realm of academia and of religion but there are still perhaps 48,000 fluent speakers worldwide with an unknown but large number having at least an understanding of the language.
