Nepalese Translation Services
Nepalese, also known as Nepali or Gurkhali (the language of the Ghurkhas), is the Indo-Aryan language spoken in Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar (Burma) and is also the official language of the Indian State of Sikkim. It has 17 million native speakers and a further 23 million second language speakers.
Like the other Indo-Aryan languages of the Indian sub continent, the Nepalese language developed from Sanskrit and just like Hindi, it shares the Sanskrit Devanagari script as its written medium.
Within Nepal itself, despite being the official language of the Kingdom…or more correctly, The Hindu Kingdom of Nepal; only around half of the population speaks Nepalese as their mother tongue with many others speaking it as a second language.
