Croatian Translation Services

Croatian belongs to the western group of South Slavic languages and it is spoken primarily by the Croats living in Croatia and parts of Bosnia Herzegovina. Croatian language developed from the Old Slavonic used in liturgy around the ninth century AD, while modern Croatian started to take shape only five centuries later. The first Croatian Grammar was written in 1604 by Bartul Kašic. In 1850, men of letters from both Serbia and Croatia signed the Vienna Agreement according to which Serbo-Croatian, a language uniting Serbian and Croatian, came into being. This new language was created for administrative reasons and had an official status in both regions until the division of the Federal Yugoslav state. Nowadays Croatian has an official status in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the regions Vojvodina (Serbia), Burgenland (Austria) and Molise (Italy).
