Bengali Translation Services
The heartland of the Bengali language is West Bengal and Bangladesh. Along with Assamese, Bengali is the easternmost of the Indo-Aryan languages of the Indian subcontinent; it is the second most widely spoken language in India and it is also the 5th most widely spoken language worldwide, with some 230 million speakers.
Bengali is derived from the Sanskrit, Prakrit and Pali languages and developed into its current form during the medieval period; since then, it has been the medium for a rich heritage of literary works, with such notables as the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore producing their original works in Bengali.
Although as mentioned, the heartland of the Bengali language is West Bengal and Bangladesh, the language has a utility far beyond that territory; it is widely understood in the neighbouring state of Orissa (with whom it shares a common script), the southern states of Assam, the Union Territories of the Nicobar and Andaman Islands, the State of Tripura…and perhaps most surprisingly it is an official language of Sierra Leone!
Here at Lingo24 we have vast experience of translating into the full range of languages from the Indian sub-continent.
We use mother tongue Bengali translators who are based in-country (in India or Bangladesh) or translators who live in other countries and are more in tune with the language as spoken by the target market for your translation. We only use professional translators with several years of experience, and our dedicated team of project managers will choose the translators and proof-readers most appropriate to your exact requirements.
