Job Description for Lingo24 IT Support Person in Timişoara, Romania
Background
Lingo24 is one of the fastest-growing, most innovative translation companies in Europe. With small operations in the UK, New Zealand, China, France and Germany, the company’s main hub is in Romania, where it employs over 50 people in project management, account management, IT and marketing roles. Lingo24 undertakes translation projects for a wide range of clients in several different industry sectors.
It is now seeking an experienced IT Support person to join its growing IT team as Lingo24’s team is growing and the needs for IT support grow with it.
Outline of IT Support role
Our IT Support person will be responsible for the overall effectiveness within the company of IT and network systems. This includes phones and computers and the staff’s use of them and the software installed on them, with the overall aim of minimising downtime because of IT related issues.
Specific Tasks
- Set up software and optimise all systems and applications for all new and existing company computers.
- Source suppliers of high speed internet and trouble shoot Internet connection/networking issues, including liaising with the ISP.
- Maintain computers used for the company to ensure they are working at an optimal level.
- Create and set up email accounts, and ensure that all users have a reliable SMTP server.
- Maintain accounts on the FTP server for staff, clients, and suppliers, and ensure that any staff who need to use the FTP server have the required knowledge to do so.
- Solve problems encountered by staff with software and hardware including (but not limited to) day-to-day application support, plus problems with file types, file conversion.
- Research and purchase new computers, upgrades and accessories when required.
- Research and purchase VOIP equipment (router + phone + other equipment) when required.
- Create "Help" files to provide solutions to common problems.
- When issues are being worked on by others, liaise with the involved parties team to communicate the progress of solutions to the users.
- Assist clients when required to help them resolve IT issues directly related to our interaction with them, including (but not limited to) FTP, file formats, fonts.
- Report to the Lead Developer.
Requirements
- A university degree in computer science
- Experience in IT network administration mandatory
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Excellent organisational skills, and be friendly, tactful, level-headed, self-motivated, independent, trustworthy, determined, and results-driven.
Salary and conditions
Salary: Will depend on experience, but will be competitive and rewarding.
There will be some flexibility on hours, but the main working hours will correspond to UK working hours (9-17 GMT).
