Account Manager (In or near London)

Role of In-country Account Managers (ICAM) at Lingo24

Lingo24 Account Managers are professional lovers. Professional lovers of language, that is. If you love language and love dealing with people, a role as in-country Account Manager with Lingo24 could be just the job for you.

Tasked with bringing in new clients, getting to know more people who need translation in existing client companies and increasing the profitability of accounts, ICAMs meet our clients, speak with them on the ‘phone, and promote our company on a local and national basis. They must also liaise with our Project Managers to ensure all the projects we undertake have the best chance possible of beating our clients’ high expectations.

About you

You should have at least a year’s experience initiating, developing and managing business relationships and you should have enjoyed it. You should have a proven ‘nose for an opportunity’. You should get a real buzz from closing sales too!

You should be able to work independently and have get-up-and-go. Experience starting business relationships from scratch and making them work!

You should have good computer skills and excellent organisational and communication skills. Attention to detail will really help you in this role.

You should love your language. If you speak more than one, that’s a very good thing.

About us

Lingo24 is a fast-growing Scottish translation company headquartered in Aberdeen. Its main operational hub is in Romania (ca. 50 people), but it also has operations in the UK (ca. 5 people), New Zealand (3 people), Panama (5 people), France (2 people) and China (one person!). The company manages translation for some of the world’s leading companies, including Orange, the Royal Bank of Scotland and MTV. We’re only in it for the language.

How do ICAMs get Accounts to manage?

CL->ICAM

The main way would be through the hub-based Client Liaison (CL) team, who refer serious translation buyers to them. Serious translation buyers are defined as those whose companies the CL team believe would spend 10k+ per year or who have a one-off project valued at 1k or more.

ICAM generates more business from, and strengthens, existing relationships

ICAMs also take on accounts from CL or other AMs where we believe a local approach will reap rewards. For example:

  • if an Account has been managed by a Director who hasn’t developed the relationship as much as could have been possible
  • or where a salesperson no longer receives commission on an Account
  • or where the Account representative is ‘high maintenance’ and needs regular face-to-face contact;
  • or where the Account representative client-side wants someone locally;
  • or where a potentially lucrative account has not been developed.

The ICAM is briefed with increasing the profitability of accounts, both through increasing sales (more contacts? greater share of company’s work?) and through increasing margins (cutting out cost on our side by finding more effective ways of managing the work or finding lower cost suppliers without compromising on quality – or increasing rates or range of services we can sell)

ICAM represents Lingo24 at events, networks with local business community, gives feedback on marketing material and competitive landscape, proposes (and sometimes undertakes) additional promotional activity, and supports marketing campaigns.

ICAM gives feedback on quality of service.

If anything is not as professional as it should be, ICAM feeds back to Operations Manager/Lead PM.

Working Conditions

ICAM works from home in, or within an hour of, London. ICAM will need to travel to meet clients throughout the UK regularly. Travel to our European hub in Romania will also be necessary for training periodically.

Rewards

A rewarding salary plus commission and well-being benefit. Pension and healthcare after qualifying period too!

ICAMs receive a % of the amount by which they manage to improve Account profitability. They should also receive a % of the profit on accounts they manage, which will vary depending on their level of involvement.

How to Apply

Applicants should email Sue Copas, Lingo24’s Head of Account Management, with ICAM-London Application in the subject line, including a letter of application and a full CV.
