Commission for Africa

A frantic phone call one Tuesday lunchtime last March heralded a challenging assignment which has led to Lingo24 carrying out regular work for the Commission for Africa. Our initial remit was to translate their 30,000 word website (www.commissionforafrica.org) from English into French... and all within 48 hours. The Lingo24 project manager charged with this apparently impossible mission wasted no time in putting together a team of six experienced translators in Europe plus a proof-reader based in New Zealand, to ensure that we were literally working around the clock. The translation was received on time by an extremely grateful client who responded:

"Thank you for your support and prompt response. The website is now live at www.commissionforafrica.org and we attended the launch of the report with Bob Geldof, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown this morning. We are expecting thousands of hits in the coming weeks".

For several months following this successful collaboration, Lingo24 received monthly updates from the Commission from Africa who had their own Lingo24 dedicated email address for these regular assignments. Material received in this way was turned around within 2 - 3 hours of receipt, depending on the volume, thereby ensuring that the website was kept bang up to date during its active period of service.
