Welsh added to Google Translate

For those who remember last year’s classic translation faux pas that resulted in a Welsh road-sign that, when translated into English, read: “I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated”, then you could be forgiven for shuddering slightly at the latest announcement from Google.
Joining the likes of Galician, Swahili and Yiddish, Welsh is now part of the growing Google Translate family, meaning speakers of 51 different languages can now translate text to, and from, Welsh.
Of course, Lingo24 wouldn’t be doing its job if we didn’t point out that it shouldn’t be relied on for any serious business-related communications. But to get the general gist of a message this could prove to be a nifty little Welsh translation tool.
