Lingo24 appoints a new Financial Director... and launches more local sites

posted by

Things are on the grow again for Lingo24, with the appointment of an experienced part-time Financial Director, Scott Hutcheson. Scott will help manage the company's finance operations and, in time, to raise funds to enable future growth. Scott is close to the Edinburgh hub, and we look forward to seeing him in the Lingo offices!

And while we’re on the topic of growth, we’ve added two more local microsites to our arsenal this week as the South Africa and Singapore sites get up and running.

Lingo24 translator thanks Zeus for L24 Thanks

posted by

Here at Lingo24 we recently created ‘L24 Thanks’, a quarterly competition in which we draw one each of our clients, translators and team members at random to win a cash prize of £124.

(We chose the sum of £124 because of its handy visual similarity to L24.com, our URL shortener, which is free for anyone to use and makes difficult things easier to manage – just as we aim to do at Lingo24.)

But we’ve never before invited you inside for a look at how we do it… What exactly happens between the point when you send us your source file, and the point when the translated files are delivered to you?

‘L24 Thanks’ gives random rewards to our closest colleagues

posted by

We have a lot to be thankful for at Lingo24 – our great clients, our fantastic team, and our brilliant translators, to mention just a few things we’re grateful for.

We wanted to share some of that goodwill around, so we created ‘L24 Thanks’, a quarterly competition in which we draw one of our clients, translators and team members at random to win a cash prize of £124.

The very best industry plaudits are those which are voted for by the people you work with. And with that in mind, we’re very pleased to announce that Lingo24 has been awarded top scores by the translators at two major online linguist communities, ProZ and Translators Cafe.

Is Scotland the eCommerce ‘Zimbabwe’? Or a growth industry?

posted by

A recent article in the Herald Scotland, ‘eCommerce is a global treasure trove … but Scotland’s more serious about belly dancing’, questions why Scottish government and businesses have yet to take advantage of the enormous opportunities presented by eCommerce.

While the article makes a strong point that much more could be done to promote Ecommerce as a business opportunity in Scotland, it is perhaps unfair to claim that Scotland is ‘the Zimbabwe of the globalised eCommerce marketplace’, as specialist Peter Mowforth puts it.
