Language fan has surgery to help her speak better Korean

Here at Lingo24, our slogan is ‘Love Your Language’, and this shines through, whether it’s in our translations or here on this very blog. But we discovered someone who’s taken her love of the Korean language to the next level, by having oral surgery to help her speak it better!
Nineteen-year-old student, Rhiannon Brooksbank-Jones, was so disappointed at not being able to pronounce vital letters of the Korean alphabet owing to her short tongue, that she went under the knife to lengthen it.

Double the confusion for Welsh shoppers

Multilingual shoppers in Wales have been baffled by a sign pointing them to the exit… in opposite directions. The Tesco store in Swansea points to the ‘Exit’ in English to the right, and the ‘Allanfa’ (which also means ‘exit’ in Welsh) to the left.
A spokesperson, however, maintains that the signs are technically correct, as there is indeed an exit in both directions, albeit through the petrol station.

Britons’ work opportunities hampered by poor foreign language skills

British workers’ poor foreign language skills are holding them back from jobs in European Union institutions, an official said this week.
While British workers account for twelve percent of the EU population, they hold just five percent of positions in the European Parliament and Commission, leaving them vastly under-represented in the EU workforce.
