UK exporters benefit from booming business

Over a third of UK exporters have experienced ’significant’ growth since branching out overseas.

The figures come as part of a number of reports by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) into how British SMEs trade abroad and are a great boost, especially in the face of recent statistics suggesting that Britain is ailing as an exporting nation.

How can the EU Commission get businesses to trade internationally?

Only 8.8% of EU citizens are buying online across EU borders, according to the folk at the EU Commission’s Digital Agenda Strategy (DAS). Not the best news for them, considering the figure they’re aiming for by 2015 is an ambitious 20%.

In fact, the news is so worrying, it’s prompted action from the EU Commission to tackle what it has described as ‘insufficient progress’.

Britons’ work opportunities hampered by poor foreign language skills

British workers’ poor foreign language skills are holding them back from jobs in European Union institutions, an official said this week.

While British workers account for twelve percent of the EU population, they hold just five percent of positions in the European Parliament and Commission, leaving them vastly under-represented in the EU workforce.
