A Scottish dating agency are using the foreign language internet to spark love interests in Brazil.
Edinburgh-based dating agency, Cupid, has seized the golden opportunity that the foreign language internet has to offer in the ever-growing Brazilian online market, shelling out a whopping half a million pounds for a number of Portuguese sites.

Closing the export gap with the foreign language internet

A whopping two-thirds of London’s businesses are not exporting, and very few would consider going overseas, a new report has said.
The poll, conducted by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said it was ‘hugely disappointed’ with the results.
Willie Walsh, president of the LCCI said, ‘It is not good enough that so few UK companies export their goods and services and even [fewer] think it’s a possibility.’

Britons’ work opportunities hampered by poor foreign language skills

British workers’ poor foreign language skills are holding them back from jobs in European Union institutions, an official said this week.
While British workers account for twelve percent of the EU population, they hold just five percent of positions in the European Parliament and Commission, leaving them vastly under-represented in the EU workforce.

The words ‘export’ and ‘localisation’ should always go hand in hand. Any business with an international target market needs to properly address the cultural nuances that are inherent across the world, and it all begins with a company’s website.
Sure, translation plays an important part in converting a website for the global market, but there is a lot more to the localisation process than simply translating a piece of text verbatim.
