Ruler of Dubai promotes inter-cultural understanding

In an announcement in front of a large gathering of Arab, German and assorted members of the international media, Yasser Hareb, who is the Vice President for Culture of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, stated that the foundation intended to host a succession of cultural activities at its maiden appearance at the upcoming Frankfurt Book Fair this month.

The Frankfurt Book fair is, as most readers will be aware, is internationally renowned as the biggest such fair worldwide, as well as being the largest worldwide forum for publishers and multimedia companies to agree and formalise publishing and distribution rights.

The Foundation aims to use the Book Fair as an opportunity to interact with the thousands of publishers and tens of thousands of visitors that are due to attend,  in order to promote inter-cultural co-operation and understanding between the West and the Arab world.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai as his personal vehicle for the promotion of such inter-cultural understanding, through the encouragement of up-coming Arabic writers and the publication, promotion and translation of their work throughout the Arab world and beyond.
