Launch of latest portable Kanji reader

WizCom Technologies Ltd has today launched their latest product; the Quicktionary®2 Kanji - Portable Japanese reader for distribution to markets worldwide. WizCom are already well known as a provider of portable handheld scanning and translating pens, but their new product incorporates new technology that reads Kanji characters and instantly translates them into either English or Japanese.

The reader is priced at $279 and has already triggered a great many sales orders from Europe the Far East including Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. The reader supports all 2,000 of the most commonly used Kanji characters and is suitable for all Japanese students from Primary age upwards and is especially useful for students who can already speak Japanese but who struggle to read it because of the difficulty of the Kanji script; initial trials from students worldwide have unanimously seen the product hailed as the best on the market.

The Quicktionary®2 Kanji - Portable Japanese reader features:

• The first portable Japanese Dictionary and Japanese OCR combination in a wholly portable device.
• The inclusion of three discrete dictionary databases from a leading Japanese dictionary series.
• The incorporation of a bespoke algorithm to bypass the difficulty normally experienced due to the use of three character sets in written Japanese.
• The incorporation of another bespoke algorithm that surmounts the normal difficulty of dividing Japanese character strings into corresponding translated word segments.
• Dual OCR reading technology for reading and translation from English to Japanese and vice versa.
• A Unique technology that can handle the scanning of both horizontally and vertically written Japanese characters.

All in all, I’d say that the Quicktionary®2 Kanji Pen was would still be cheap at double the price!
