Our beleaguered Government will, no doubt, have found the latest reports on projected immigration to the UK, very unwelcome. Relegating the Governments original projections to the realms of fantasy, the latest research estimates the true impact of UK inflows and associated factors to lead to a virtual doubling of the population within a lifetime.

As if in some kind of strange synchronicity, reports indicate that seven times the usual number of people have arrived at immigrant camps on the fringes of the EU in readiness for 21st December 2007, when internal EU borders are scrapped under the Schengen agreement.

One consequence of these events is a marked increase in UK citizens who are leaving the country for new pastures and a business indicator of this very fact is the marked increase in the uptake in language classes for these potential expatriates as they look to equip themselves for life in their chosen host countries. One company who seems to have benefited markedly is the Linguaphone Institute of London, who, as everybody will be aware, produces high end learning courses in many diverse languages.
