Google is such a widely used search tool, that the word itself has gone from being a simple trademarked name to being an active verb – sometimes even appearing in lower case, as in ‘I googled the answer’.

And it can be used to search for just about any piece of information imaginable. For Lingo24, we often need a quick answer to a simple question and Google works very nicely for us.

For example, we may need to know what time it is in Panama, New Zealand, China...or any country where we do business.  A handy little tip here is to type in the word ‘time’ followed by the country name and voila...Google automatically tells you the time in that location.

Furthermore, Google can also automatically detect when you need a simple calculation performed. Simply enter, for example, 23*0.75 and click ‘Google Search’ and there you have it.

Of course, this is really child’s play for the world’s most popular search engine.  But as a tool, it can come in very handy indeed for all the little nuggets of information we need on a daily basis.
