Variety is the spice of life for Lingo24

The one recurring comment we get from our global band of merry Lingo-ists (in layperson’s terms, someone who works for Lingo24...) is that no two days are the same.

There is always something that turns up – it could be a minor mishap, or a challenging quandary – to make each day stand out from all the others. And for the most part, this is something that we revel in as it keeps us on our toes and ensures nobody is ever bored.

St. David’s Day: a special day for a special culture

posted by

Well, it seems that every day is a special day. Besides the usual international holidays such as Christmas, New Year and Easter, there is a plethora of days that are dedicated to celebrating just about anything; many of which may not be noted in your diary.

In March alone we have World Book Day (5th), Commonwealth Day (9th), World Storytelling Day (20th) and Poetry Day (21st), to name but a few.

The international language of convenience

On a similar theme to the previous blog post on ‘International Mother Language Day’, there are many reasons to have faith that the powers that be will do all they can to help protect the cultural and linguistic diversity of the world’s languages.

In Europe alone, there are a number of government-sponsored cultural agencies that subsidise or, in some cases, fully cover the cost of translating literature.

Keeping Mother-tongues Wagging…

As if you didn’t know already, tomorrow – Saturday 21st of February - is International Mother Language Day. And yes, it may only seem like last week that we were last celebrating the day that is dedicated to the promotion of cultural diversity and multilingualism, but here it is once again.

Snow doubt it’s Valentine’s Day

Well, it seems that Lingo24's main Romanian office base in Timisoara - 'Casa Nova' - has been taking full advantage of all the lovely snow there of late. Apparently, they have been honing their  snow-sculpting skills with Roxana, Carmen, Robert and Ramo deciding to celebrate Valentine’s Day by creating a loving snow-couple in the park outside.

As the photo below shows, last Friday’s lunch break was certainly put to good use, with the snowman and snowwoman drawing a small but appreciative crowd of observers out from the warmth of 'Casa Nova' to marvel at the handiwork on display.

Travel broadens the mind? Panama, here we come!

posted by

The late, great American humorist Mark Twain once said that “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness”. Put a little more succinctly, travel does indeed broaden the mind.

And this is partly why Lingo24 is sending Adi and Oana - our trusted Project and Linguist Managers – over to Panama for six months.

However, unlike Mark Twain’s paid-pilgrimages across the globe, Lingo24’s cultural crossover is designed to help transfer the invaluable skill set and knowledge base of our Romanian base over to our colleagues in Panama.

Lingo24 hit the headlines…

posted by

Well, it seems that Lingo24 is continuing on its upwards trajectory to the stars.

Last week - Wednesday 4th of February to be precise - was the day that Scotland’s oldest daily newspaper – ‘The Press and Journal’ – featured Lingo24 and its very own founder and director, Christian Arno.

Serving the northern areas of the country, including the cities of Aberdeen and Inverness, the Press and Journal newspaper is something of an institution, and to be featured by it is a real honour.
