Closing the export gap with the foreign language internet

A whopping two-thirds of London’s businesses are not exporting, and very few would consider going overseas, a new report has said.
The poll, conducted by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) said it was ‘hugely disappointed’ with the results.
Willie Walsh, president of the LCCI said, ‘It is not good enough that so few UK companies export their goods and services and even [fewer] think it’s a possibility.’
Experts (and indeed here on this blog) have pointed to an export-led recovery for the UK’s fragile economy, so it’s more important than ever that UK businesses look overseas for new opportunities.
And for companies who want to export, there’s no easier way than by turning to the foreign language internet.
With nearly 10% of the UK’s retail expenditure going to businesses online, eCommerce is big business, but it’s getting harder to get noticed on the English-language internet. On the foreign language internet, however, there’s less competition and it’s therefore much easier to reach the top of Google (or indeed, Baidu…).
What this means is higher traffic, higher conversion rates and a higher return on your investment.
It also goes some way to closing the current export gap, and hopefully it’ll show other businesses the golden opportunity they’re missing out on.
