Appeal for trainee Christian interpreters/ missionaries

It was previously reported here that due to a drastic shortage of competent Arabic, Farsi and Pashto translators private hire linguistics companies had sprung up in the USA and were offering up to $210,000 in annual salaries for suitable volunteers to ply their trade in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, at the other end of the spectrum, a Christian Missionary organisation is also appealing for volunteers to make up a similarly desperate shortfall, but this time for already able, partially able or trainee interpreters to go out on mission for a nominal salary.

The New Tribes Mission, based in Sanford, Florida, is a missionary organisation which aims to reach millions of tribal people worldwide who do not have access to education or schooling and to provide this as well as Gospel teachings.

The New Tribes Mission is currently looking for volunteers worldwide to join them in Florida where they will undergo courses in teaching skills and Bible studies and when ready, will be sent out on mission to live with tribes in isolated areas. Whilst there, they will live closely within the tribes, learn their languages and customs and then gradually translate the Gospels and disseminate their teachings alongside wider education whilst also establishing churches and training native teachers and leaders who in turn will teach amongst their own people.

Quoting Tom Lotz of New Tribes; “Pray that God will challenge hearts to answer the need for teachers.”
