Aim for the stars…without hitting the ceiling

They say that a job used to be for life. But in a fast-moving 21st century society, more and more people are moving on after only a few years in their job.
Of course, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The thought of working for the same company for forty years would probably be enough to make most people baulk. And moving on to pastures new is what many people need to reenergise and consolidate all they have learnt from their previous experiences.
However, when businesses do hold onto their staff for more than a couple of years, this has to be a good sign – but only where promotion is involved.
It’s important – both for morale and motivation – that team members can see that their hard work and dedication could eventually earn them a step or two up the company ladder in the not too distant future; and perhaps even further if the circumstances are right.
And this is a pattern that is starting to emerge at Lingo24. Just yesterday, one of our trusted Project Managers was promoted to Senior Project Manager, not too long after coming on board. This is something that has been happening in other areas of Lingo24 too, whereby someone decides they would rather take the step up than the step across.
And this is great for us. Whilst we would never dream of stifling someone’s career aspirations, there’s no reason why someone shouldn’t aim for the stars without fear of hitting the ceiling. Every business wants to keep their best personnel – but only if they themselves want to stay. And this certainly seems to be the case at Lingo24.
