Aid gives boost to Culture and Education
Many countries worldwide are in receipt of some form of aid and a great many of them receive this aid for humanitarian purposes, which is certainly to be lauded. Of the remainder of the aid receiving countries, a majority of these receive aid for infrastructural purposes and the like, so it was particularly nice to hear of a recent donation of aid specifically for cultural and educational purposes.
The Government of Kuwait is to give $20 million of non-refundable aid to the Government of Mongolia in order to finance a new National Central Library: this will be added to funding put up by the Mongolian Government itself, to pay for the translation of 50 volumes of world literature into the Mongolian language. The actual translation of the 50 volumes is estimated to cost 495 Million Mongolian Tugrik which equates to roughly $430,000.
Once the translations of the selected 50 volumes have been completed, they will be lodged within the Central Library and will then be copied and disseminated to all Mongolian school libraries, higher education establishments, vocational training establishments and production centres.
Hang on…495 million Mongolian Tugrik for 50 volumes? They should have come to see Lingo24 first!!
