Finally "Euodicatum" is "back"

What started years ago as Eurodicatum and was discontinued to merge into a EU Terminology project has finally been launched as IATE - the “Inter Active Terminology for Europe”

Despite the strange name it is pretty much what we were used from the good olden days - though it does feature a few more languages.

anybody dealt with ProZ connect yet?

Looks like ProZ has now launched their job posting management platform.

Basically this allows companies to use a far more sophisticated interface for their job postings. Those who ever posted jobs on ProZ will know that it can be very difficult to manage, and often you receive emails about the job literally years after it was closed. With ProZ connect, you pay between 49 and 65 Euro and enjoy a fairly nice filtering and management experience.

Yo-tube and copyright… but what about TM sharing..?

The Viacom-Google fight over copyrights makes one wonder about the issue of copyrights in Web 2.0 kind of TM tools that share TMs. Ligotek, for example, provides users the option to use their TMs privately. However, when testing the software I didn’t see an option to create a private index. I am not sure if that necessarily means that the index will be public, but it makes me think what TMs I can actually use without infringing on NDAs that I signed or - without infringing on copyrights.

Across free to freelancers

A student pointed out to me that Across is giving away its CAT tool for free to freelancers. I heard about that a few months ago but thought it was a satelite version - the kind of thing that all tool producers give away and which can only deal with projects that one gets send by agencies or other people who have the full version of the tool.
